Cultural Ambassador : Oktoberfest

Hi, I'm Vera. Today I want to present you one of the biggest festival in Germany. It's called Oktoberfest

. 

What is Oktoberfest ?

It is one of the most famous festivals and the largest in all of Germany. It is held in Munich,               Germany. Thousands upon thousands of people from all over Germany and the world. 

History :

In the following years, the horse race was combined with the state agricultural fair, and booths serving
food and drinks were introduced. By the 20th century these booths have developed into large beer halls.

When is it? 

It is usually the 3rd Sunday in September. It runs for sixteen days through early October. So it's different every year.

Where was it held?

The fairground for Oktoberfest has always been held at Therese’s Meadow, named after Princess 

Therese and is still held there to this day.

The Fairground :

        The entrance to the fairgrounds is surrounded by carnival rides. There’s a gigantic roller coaster in the shape of a figure eight, shooting ranges, giant swings, and a big wheel. Also, they have attractions like human eating fish and a hall of mirrors. There are also, musicians who walk through the fairgrounds playing traditional Bavarian music.  

Food at the fest: 

• Wurst or sausage with sauerkraut/ mustard
• Oxen tails
• lRoasted Chicken- usually served a half
• Potatoes dumplings with red cabbage
• Pretzels
• Rolls
• Affelstrudel

Popular Breweries :

• Augustiner
• Hacker-Pschorr
• Hofbrau
• Lowenbrau
• Paulaner
• Spaten
• They are all brewed or bottled within the city units of Munich 

Clothing :

      For Women 

• Dirndl
• A dress from 18th century
• Top is usually a white, peasant top
• Tight bodice
• Flowly skirt, dress
• Usually checkered apron
• Depending on the person the skirt’s length or lace on the shirt 

For Men 

`Lederhosen

-Leather trousers, knee breeches

-Usually made from elk, goat, calf, or pig hide

-They are usually braided or embroider with monograms, designs, or edelweiss, hunting or peasant motifs.

-Buttons are usually made from rough elk horn.

Usually accompanied by leather suspenders

Regrets & Promises

Hi, guys. Today I wanna share something with you about regret and promise.

So, I was a loner, I didn't have much friend back then. I don't know why but it always hard for me to make friend. And even if I have one, they don't really qualified as a "friend". I feel like they don't aware of my existence, I don't know why but I used to feel like that with everybody. I passed elementary school holding grudge to someone I used to called best friend. In junior high school I tried to start fresh as a freshmen but when I knew everybody in my new class already talking in a group like they already know each other and the introvert me can't pass their intimidating barrier of their clique. Moreover, my mom work on the same school as me so she basically knew when I did something wrong or anything. So I felt pressured by that, get hold out of it till I graduated from my Junior High School. 

My Senior High School Year felt like a transition for my life. I tried to take every chance to change myself, more open to other people. Though it's not much help, I found my kind of people, we have a same hobby, same taste of music and we laugh at the same joke. This people is the one that always remember me and my birthday. But, one thing that hold us back is, all of us is introvert so we looks like some kind of suspicious group that gather in the back of the room, but I like them. They unique and always have some interesting information. But, in the end. I still feel like I don't belong with them.

Now, I'm an university student. I promised I will be a better person. Braver, kinder and more vibrant and make more friend with new people in new places.

Visiting an Interesting Place : Gembira Loka Zoo

Hello, this time I want to share my experience when me and my friends, Halimah and Pi visited Gembira Loka Zoo. Gembira Loka Zoo located at Jl. Kebun Raya No. 2, Warungboto, Umbulharjo, Kota Yogyakarta, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta 55171. If you want to enter, it requires you to have a ticket. It cost Rp25000 on weekdays and Rp30000 on weekends. When you purchased the ticket you will get a map of the zoo.

For your information, the zoo is kinda far from the front gate. But you can either walk or rent a bicycle to reach the animal area. But, don't worry, even it takes a while to reach the zoo but the scenery is really beautiful. So much greenery and there's a lake like pond that have a boat cafe in it. 

There's so much animal in there. About 470 in total. Divided in sections such as bird park, reptiles and amphibians park, aquariums and many more.

Other than the animal, there is other attraction like bumper boat, water bike and many more. And there some food and drinks stall in the end of the zoo route, so after the long walk we can rest a bit and buy some snack.

Transportation Problem and Solution

Hello everybody, back again with Vera. This time I want to talk about Transportation Problem. The most common transportation problem that happened everywere is traffic jam. The one and only reason of it is the people themselves. So I want to talk about the those kind of annoying drivers.

1. the Insensitive Drivers.



This kind of drivers isn't violating the rule directly but they are disruption to another drivers. This kind of driver that driving slow in the fast lane, or driving fast in the slow lane, drivers that turn their indicator light right but turn to left, drivers that stop too left or right in the corner of intersection. They indirectly the reason of traffic jam.

2. the Bad Drivers,















This kind of drivers that violating the rules. Always driving fast, breakthrough the traffic light and always cutting lane. Personally, I think I'm one of this drivers ;p

3. the Underage Drivers

 

Personally, I don't really agree this rule, because I going through my highschool riding my bike to school without any licence. But, this kind of driver become a threat when they evolve into bad driver. Not only they didn't have licence but also they violating the rules.

There is two solution for this case :

First is external solution, which is the officer. Traffic police can tighten the rules and sharpen the surveillance. Educate the young people about the traffic rules and stiffen the penalty.

Second is the internal solution, the driver awareness of the rules so they don't consciously break the rules. This one is simple but important. We must care about our surrounding, especiallly when we in the road. Because this is not your own road but ours.

the Most Memorable Moment in My Life

Hello everybody, my name is Vera. Today I want to tell you about my unforgettable memories. This story is a little bit paranormal-ish so make sure to be ready to read this.

So there was a time when I was 3 years old or so. I was running around the house like a usual normal kid. But suddenly stumbled into something in my father's bedroom. I saw a shadow in a dark room, a figure of a tall man. I'm sure it's not a shadow that I cast because it's was moving as I stand staring at it. Seconds later, I run from it, screaming while searching for my mother. Once I saw her, I drag her to that room. "Is it still there" she asked. "No." I answered. It's gone. "It's nothing then, don't worry about it.

Well, that's was a childhood memories. I have another one when I was in second grade of high school. That time, I was half asleep, I dreamed about someone who tell me to be careful. In the same time, in the real world I heard footsteps walking towards my room. I supposed he (I think I should refer him as a he) wearing a thick clothes or a long coat, because I hear the sound of fabric rubbing into another fabric. In my dream, the person who told me to be careful looks uneasy as he (This one I know for sure is a male) must leave immediately, then he told me to be ready. Of what? Seconds later someone call my name in the real world. A man voice but not something familiar. I woke up. Nobody there. Who is that? I shocked, my heart racing. When I saw the clock it was 3 o'clock in the morning. Though my clock is 15 minutes late that the real time, I still scared of that 3 o'clock rumor that all the creatures from the underworld is roaming around our world in that time. After that, I was to scared to go back to sleep, so I hugged my pillow and wait till my heart rate go back to normal state. It takes 1 hour to calm myself. Around 4 A.M I go back to sleep as nothing happened.

And the last one, the most recent. Like in the first or second week after the PPSMB week. I dreamed about me talking to a black figure, asking him to wake me up. Because I have morning class that day. Right after I said that, something fell into the floor. It's sounds like a bell and it woke me up. It's kinda scary, but I actually thankful for it, because I was able to wake up in the morning and attend my morning class.
